"Life itself is the most wonderful fairytale of all."
-Hans Christian Andersen
I do not think I will ever
fully
"grow up".
It just isn't possible
when so many magical,
whimsical things
exist right outside my window.
Adorable Kaori,
the school nurse.
my link to Japanese culture.
A note about a hakama
{i.e. the thing I'm wearing}:
it makes your butt COLOSSAL.
Just sayin'.
Spring is twirling down the tree branches
and blossoming,
clothing the naked bark
in pinks and pearls.
A soy sauce vat.
The ladder was quite stable,
however,
climbing it in a hakama
was an adventure all on its own.
Traditional sweets
with a modern twist:
angel-thin somen in the middle.
Classic somen.
Somen sushi.
Tempura
at its finest.
{Though I'm still bewitched
at the thought
Purple rice.
Ah, lovely.
Taiyaki.
Traditionally, it keeps anko
in its belly,
but I coaxed it into swallowing custard
for my sake,
for my lips.
The peaceful shrines
in this country
offer the weary mind
a very welcome rest,
especially when one is dressed for the occasion.

Ashley, You are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the new look of you blog. I love seeing all the adventures you go on! They inspire me.
The new look to your blog is AWESOME! Thanks for taking us on your weekend adventure! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new layout! Sounds like you're having lots of fun adventures. :D
ReplyDeleteAshley. You are beautiful: your face, your prose, your outlook on life. Can I be you when I grow up? You make Japan seem like the most desirable place on earth. Maybe it is. But maybe it's partially 'cause you're there :)
ReplyDeletePS I love redheadstock!
ReplyDeleteDear Miss Sakura,
ReplyDeleteI have decided that if you don't want a colony of gnomes living with you and if you ever want to see your missionary again (seeing how i will hold some power in that department)we will all go to Japan and have adventures and look pretty. (including Bryn!) Further development of the terms of being ungnomed to come.
P.S. I think I'm going to try to have some adventures. I won't be young for much younger.
I wish I could put videos together like that, where did you learn it?
ReplyDeleteI hope I get to travel to Japan some day..
I just play with iMovie alot. (It's a really basic program, and rather user-friendly, I think.) Good luck!
