"To the Christian in Pagan Japan:"

For Easter,
I did nothing.
Well...
when I say, "nothing"
what I mean is
nothing
other than celebrate Christ.

From what I observed that day,
Easter is just another holy day
to the tiny population of Christians,
here in Japan.

In Church,
our lessons weren't particular to the holiday;
we decorated no eggs,
nor did we eat chocolate rabbits.

Honestly,
I might have entirely forgotten it was Easter
if Celestia hadn't mentioned it to me.
Something I'm not too proud of.

So,
a note to the Christian
who endeavors to live in a polytheistic community
like Japan:
keep a calendar next to your bed
so you won't forget to celebrate
the One in whom you believe.

Or
{something we can strive for together, you and me}
celebrate Him
every day.

  1. Love that hymn! I never got to attend an Easter Service either but praised God all day from the couch where my loving family waited on me hand and foot. Sometimes these thorns we receive along the way remind us how lucky we are. Love Grandma

  2. I almost forgot too, i had a few reminders. Mainly it was my mom who talked about it before Easter came about and I asked her when it was. If it wasn't for my mom i would have forgoten too, since it isn't on any calander you can get here in Japan.
