"Call Me Anytime"

"I'm sure you could do just fine without me for a friend, but I couldn't get along without you." -Ermengarde (A Little Princess)

One way to escape the melty heat of summer in Japan
is to have so much fun, you forget about it.
{hee hee}

Friday night found me in Himeji
We dined at a little Indian restaurant in the backstreets,
and I can't believe I wasn't a fan before.
{The spices scared me---my tongue is so wimpish.}
But no more.

When I fly back to America,
I will patronize the local Indian restaurants
until Bryn cries for variety.

Mmm, nan.

At 8:30 the next morning,
I got a phone call from my host sister
that went something like this:
"Hello, Ashley? Are you busy today?"
"Well, I've got a huge test to study for..."
"Oh, because I have these two tickets to USJ..."
"..."
"And I can't go, so would you like them?"
"...I'll call you back in five minutes."

And thus,
Lauren and I
wound up in Universal Studios Japan.
And I do not regret one second of it.

We loved the Jurassic Park ride so much,
we decided to reenact it with turkey legs.

And even they
got into the spirit of the dinosaur.

I used to dream of velociraptors
chasing me through my house
and perching on the telephone wires outside.
I also dreamt of sharks
watching me climb up a diving board,
waiting to catch me in mid-jump
with their jaws.
I got over it...

Haagen Dazs is the best
ice cream
in the entire universe.
Unless they make ice cream on Pluto.
'Cuz that would probably be chilly-yumcious too.

Do you have any stories of
"I was going to do my homework, but THEN..."?
Do tell. Let's be guilty together.

  1. Oh Ashley take all there fun days and run with them before you're tied down with a house and children to care for! All phases of life generate wonderful memories but you're getting some of the best to store up! XO G-ma

  2. Indian food is tasty.

I remember several times when I put away my homework to play- because when it comes right down to it, I can do homework anytime I'm by myself. Spending time enjoying other people's company and making memories- those are the diamonds that live forever.

  3. Um, hello? How did you get that turkey leg to imitate a T-Rex? By the way, I sent you a wedding announcement. I hope it makes it to you before we actually get married. (I have no idea how long it takes mail to get from California to Japan.) Let me know when you get it!

Honestly, Molly, I just bit into the turkey leg, pulled back, and saw the face! (Hope to get your invite soon!)

  5. USJ is just the place to go on a whim. :D It just seems to happen!

I am glad you got to go again and had such a great time!

Well, it seems my last semester at school I would always find myself sewing something instead of doing my homework, but lucky for me I was able to turn that into homework for a class!

Often when I was doing my English essays and papers I would find myself sneaking onto the internet to watch a movie, or I would take a break and watch a movie I had. Needless to say there were many times I found myself scrounging late at night to get it finished on time. ;P
